TENNIS LEGEND NDUKA ODIZOR TO BUILD TENNIS ACADEMY IN TARABA

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas, has committed to utilizing all available resources to promote sports within the state.

The Governor made this pledge while receiving Nduka Odizor, a Houston-based tennis player and Olympic Gold Medalist, during a courtesy visit at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

During the visit, Governor Kefas emphasized that sports serve as a platform for nurturing leaders, building life skills, fostering unity, and promoting economic growth. He noted that Taraba State is rich in resources, which, if properly harnessed, could elevate the state to a global stage.

Reflecting on Odizor's inspiring journey, Governor Kefas encouraged individuals to remain determined in pursuing their dreams. He assured the Olympic Gold Medalist of his administration's support as Odizor works toward realizing his vision for Taraba State.

In his remarks, Nduka Odizor expressed gratitude to Governor Kefas and the people of Taraba State for their warm welcome. He shared his experiences in sports, which took him from Nigeria to America, where he became a professional tennis player.

Odizor announced plans to establish a tennis academy in Taraba State along with 60 other tennis players from the diaspora. They also intend to organize professional tournaments, which he believes will provide a platform for young talent.

Additionally, he called for the creation of a pension scheme for retired athletes, highlighting that many sportsmen and women face financial struggles after their careers end.

Odizor was accompanied on the visit by his long-time friend and tennis legend from the state, Coach Bulus Useni.
