Senator Shuaibu Commended For Connecting Mayo-Lope to National Grid as Abbare Electrification Project Begins

The Mayo-Lope community in Lau Local Government Area of Taraba State has been connected to the national grid, ending decades of power outage, following the commissioning of a rural electrification project by the Senator representing Taraba North Senatorial District, Senator Shuaibu Isa Lau. 

Senator Lau also flagged off a new electrification project for Abbare village and surrounding communities, including Daunada, signaling a new phase of infrastructural development in the area.

Speaking during the commissioning in Sayonti, Senator Lau stated that the electrification projects are part of his commitment to fulfilling campaign promises made to his constituents. He explained that access to electricity is critical to improving the living conditions of rural dwellers, stimulating local economies, and empowering small businesses.

"This initiative aims to boost economic growth, support entrepreneurship, stimulate economic activities, create jobs, and increase income in our communities," Senator Lau said. "Solar systems are already installed in almost all our villages. Youth and women empowerment projects are ongoing and more are still coming."

He urged residents of the benefiting communities to protect the newly installed facilities and avoid acts that could sabotage development efforts. Lau also commended the Executive Chairman of Lau LGA, Hon. Nigeria S. Jatua, for his proactive role in presenting the needs of the people and advocating for urgent interventions.

Hon. Nigeria S. Jatua, while speaking at the event, described the project as a major milestone and a turning point in the history of Mayo-Lope and neighboring communities. He noted that the availability of electricity would not only improve quality of life but also revitalize the town's social and economic life.

The traditional ruler of the Sanwi Chiefdom, His Royal Highness Daah Kpang-Sanwi, Pastor Dr. Haniel HinlewheniBanti, praised Senator Lau for connecting the community to the national grid, describing the gesture as a transformative one. He said the project aligns with the Chiefdom's vision of attracting development and improving the welfare of its people.

The Senator assured the community of continued efforts to bring more dividends of democracy to Lau LGA and the entire Taraba North. He expressed gratitude for the support of traditional institutions and reiterated his commitment to working closely with the state government under the leadership of Governor Agbu Kefas to deliver sustainable development across the district.
