Deputy Gov. Aminu Alkali Returns After Medical Treatment Abroad

The Taraba State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Alkali, has returned to Nigeria after seeking medical treatment abroad, Taraba Truth and Facts newspaper exclusively gathered.

This newspaper gathered that the Deputy Governor returned to the country on Wednesday, and his health is being monitored in Abuja.

Sources close to the Deputy Governor said his health has significantly improved and that he would return to Taraba State in a few days.

"There's an improvement in his health, and we are hoping he will return to Jalingo very soon. But I can confirm to you that he arrived in Abuja on Wednesday. Also, we must commend His Excellency, Governor Agbu Kefas, for his support and show of human sympathy throughout the Deputy Governor's medical treatment abroad."

Another source told Taraba Truth and Facts newspaper that the Deputy Governor might not resume his official duties immediately.

"He is not going to resume immediately. We are monitoring his health condition and the significant improvement from his treatment abroad. What should be our concern at this time is his health—everything is not about political power; human life and health are more important."

The absence of the Deputy Governor of Taraba State, Aminu Alkali, from office since November 2024 due to ill health has generated concerns from various quarters about his ability to continue with his official duties.

The Commissioner for Health, Bodiya Buma who had visited Cairo, Egypt, where the Deputy Governor was receiving medical treatment
said, based on his assessment as a medical doctor, the Deputy Governor had suffered a stroke, is recuperating well, and is expected to resume his official duties soon.

The Commissioner for Information and Re-Orientation, Zainab Jalingo, who spoke further on the development, sought the understanding and sympathy of all, as the Deputy Governor is human and prone to falling ill like anyone else.

On the position of the law regarding those calling for the Deputy Governor's replacement due to his over three months' absence from duty, she stated that the law is only applicable to a sitting Governor.
