What Gov. Kefas Is Doing Differently In Taraba - Ex Speaker Prof. Albasu Kunini

A former Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly and Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas on Policy and Strategy, Professor Joseph Albasu Kunini, has said that the State governor has set the stage for unprecedented development in all sectors of the State.

 

Kunini, who disclosed this while interacting with journalists, said that the governor has introduced policies that will be implemented in phases for the general growth of the State.

 

He noted that the governor has already blocked most of the conduits through which state funds were syphoned, leading to over 300% increase in the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.

 

According to Kunini, "The people of the State need to brace up for unprecedented development under the leadership of His Excellency Governor Agbu Kefas. The governor has already ensured that the IGR of the State is salvaged and at the pace it is growing, it will soon equal what we get from FAAC.

 

"The other measures that the governor has put in place, including curtailing illegal mining and deforestation, are all geared towards ensuring that the state's resources are properly harnessed for the development of the State".

 

He said that with the efforts of the State Governor, insecurity has been largely tackled, making it possible for farmers to return to their farms, thereby addressing the issue of food shortages.

 

"You will all agree with me that no one could sleep with their two eyes closed just a few years ago. Incidents of kidnapping and armed attacks became a daily occurrence even here in Jalingo, the state capital. Most farmers abandoned their farms for fear of attacks. Today, farmers are coming from all over the country to farm dry-season rice here in Taraba because of improved security.

 

"Today, you can confidently invite any investor, both local and foreign, to the state, and they will be sure that their investment is secured. And the governor is already in various stages of talks with investors around the world. Soon the results will manifest.

 

Professor Kunini maintained that the free education policy of the State governor has already provided some relief for parents so that they focus their resources on other issues rather than the education of their children.

 

He called on the people of the State, irrespective of political affiliation, to join hands with the governor to move the State forward, as "the work of developing a state like Taraba cannot be a one-man job. It requires the efforts of everyone, no matter how little that effort will be, even if it is just to avoid distracting the government unnecessarily".
