UMCN Distributes Food Relief To Drought Victims In Taraba

 

The United Methodist Church in Nigeria (UMCN) has provided life-saving relief to communities affected by last year's devastating drought, distributing food and clothing worth 35 million naira. The funds for this humanitarian effort were generously donated by the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).

 

The relief items, which include rice, maize, beans, palm oil, seasoning cubes, and clothes, have been distributed to struggling families across Taraba, Gombe, Adamawa, Borno, and Bauchi states. These communities have faced severe food shortages due to prolonged dry spells that devastated crops and livelihoods.

 

Rev. Yahuza, the District Superintendent of Bambur District, expressed deep gratitude for the support, emphasizing the impact of the assistance. "This relief has brought hope to many families who were struggling to find food. We sincerely appreciate UMCOR for their generosity and for standing with us in these difficult times."

 

Similarly, Rev. Iliya Elisha, the District Superintendent of Haske District, acknowledged the importance of the relief effort in addressing hunger among the affected communities. "Many people were at the brink of starvation, but with this intervention, they can now feed their families. It is a true demonstration of God's love in action."

 

Mr. Godwin Ibrahim, the lay leader of the Central Nigeria Annual Conference, also commended the donors, noting that the aid has brought much-needed relief. "This support has made a significant difference in the lives of those affected by the drought. We pray that God continues to bless everyone who contributed to making this possible."

 

The distribution was carried out through local church networks, ensuring that the aid reached those most in need. UMCN leaders reaffirmed their commitment to supporting vulnerable communities and called for continued prayers and assistance as families work toward rebuilding their livelihoods.
