Reps Member A.M LauyaEmpowers 80 Women With Start-Up Capital, Pledges To Mitigate Unemployment In His Constituency

 

The Member representing Ardokola, Karim-Lamido, and Lau Federal Constituency, Hon. Audu Mohammed Lauya, has taken a bold step toward combating unemployment in his constituency by empowering 80 women with start-up capital.

The event, which was held at the Health Workers Hall in Sunkani, saw the women receive comprehensive training in food processing and natural home supplements, a collaborative effort between Hon. Lauya and the National Directorate of Employment (NDE). Each beneficiary was provided with twenty thousand Naira to kick-start their businesses and begin applying the skills they had acquired during the training.

Representing the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Commissioner for Science and Technology, Muslim Usman, commended the initiative, emphasizing that it aligns perfectly with the state government's poverty eradication policy. "This initiative reflects Hon. Lauya's visionary leadership and strategic approach to empowering his constituents, particularly women. By collaborating with the NDE, he has ensured the success and sustainability of this program," said Usman.

The Governor of Taraba, in his speech, praised Hon. Lauya'scommitment to social empowerment, saying, "Hon. Lauya'scollaboration with the NDE has provided an enabling environment for tangible human impact. We recognize the essential role women play in shaping our economy and society. Today, women are not just participants but leaders in both traditional and digital industries."

The Governor also stressed the importance of economic empowerment in fighting unemployment, vowing to continue working with stakeholders to reduce the high unemployment rate in the state. "Poverty eradication is not just a goal but a responsibility," he affirmed.

In his remarks, Hon. Lauya, represented by Haruna Israel, explained that the program was designed to equip women with the vocational skills necessary for self-reliance and economic independence. The initiative, he added, would also foster community development and contribute to the region's overall prosperity.

The Director-General of the NDE, Silas Ali Agara, who was represented by Chris Basida, expressed his satisfaction with the program's success. "Under the NDE's supervision, the beneficiaries have been trained in various skills, positioning them for greater success in their entrepreneurial ventures," Basida said.

Several beneficiaries of the program expressed their gratitude, stating that the start-up capital would allow them to put their training into practice and make meaningful contributions to their communities. "This support will change our lives for the better," said one of the beneficiaries, highlighting the positive impact of the initiative.

The event marks a significant milestone in Hon. Lauya's efforts to address unemployment and foster economic empowerment in his constituency. Through this initiative, 80 women are now better equipped to create their own businesses, providing a foundation for economic independence and growth.
