Janet Audu Emerge New NAWOJ Leader In Taraba

 

 

Mrs Janet Audu Nyajo of the Correspondents' Chapel has been elected as the Taraba State Coordinator of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ Taraba State Chapter.

 

 

The New NAWOJ Taraba State Coordinator emerged winner in a keenly contested election held at the Oyakhire NuJ Press Center, Jalingo with 53 votes to defeat her main challenger, Rautha Umaruof the Taraba Television Corporation who got 9 votes.

 

Also elected unopposed were Mrs Sarah Wando Mudwa of the Worldview Magazine as Vice Chairperson, Doris Filbert and Iririben NyatseAndenira both of the Taraba State Broadcasting Service, TSBS as Secretary and l Treasurer in that order.

 

Inaugurating the new executives, the North East Zonal Vice Chairperson of NAWOJ, Dorcas Philemon, emphasized the need for unity among the leaders, urging the members to support the new leadership.

 

She also directed the executives to conduct a by-election within three months to fill in the vacant positions in the state executives of the Association.

 

In her acceptance speech, the New State Coordinator, Janet Audu Nyajo pledged to work closely with the Office of the Governor's Wife, MrsAgyin Kefas, and other NGOs to facilitate training opportunities for female journalists both within and outside the country.

 

She called for the full support of members to enable her serve effectively.

 

The outgone Coordinator, Dinatu Danjuma, in her farewell address, expressed gratitude to members for their support during her tenure, urging them to extend the same cooperation to the new leadership.

 

The swearing-in ceremony marks a new phase for NAWOJ in Taraba State, with high expectations from the new leadership for improved capacity building and professional development for female journalists in the state.
