New Perishable Goods Market Opens in Jalingo

 

 The Taraba State government in its efforts towards creating a platform where men and women, buyers and sellers can transact business, buy and sell their products, has opened a perishable  'gwari' Market in the State capital, Jalingo.

 

Speaking during the market's official opening ceremony at its location behind De-Bas Suites in Jalingo, the Commissioner, Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Hon. Peter George lauded the developmental initiatives of Governor Agbu Kefas, saying the governor has consistently championed initiatives that promote inclusivity, economic empowerment and sustainable development in the state.

 

Under Governor Kefas' visionary leadership, Hon George said, the people of the State have witnessed transformative policies and projects which according to him, are designed to unlock the potentials of the peoples' local economies and uplift their lives.

 

Peter George, who emphasized that the establishment of the Gwari Sellers' Market in the State is one among Kefas' efforts, said the market is not just a trading hub but a beacon of hope for countless businesses and families of the State.

 

"It serves as a platform where buyers and sellers can interact, fostering economic activities that will undoubtedly contribute to the prosperity of Jalingo local government area and Taraba State as a whole", he said.

 

While acknowledging what he described as invaluable support of the Executive chairman, Jalingo local government area, Hon. (Dr ) Aminu Jauro Hassan for his dedication to the progress of the local government, the Commissioner disclosed that Jauro's exemplary leadership continues to motivate the entire people of the State.

 

The leadership and members of the Gwari Sellers' Association were not left out as Peter George commended them for foresight, dedication and hard work in bringing the market to a reality.

 

 While pledging the Ministry's commitment and support to the initiatives like the Gwari Market in Jalingo, Hon. George said Governor Kefas is resolute in making the State an economic power house.

 

"Let us remember that the success of this market depends on our collective efforts",

 

Addressing the gathering, the Executive Chairman of Jalingo local government area, Hon (Dr.) Aminu Jauro Hassan who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon. Nathaniel Ntani said Governments' decision in establishing the Gwari Market is for business activities and opportunities to thrive in the State.

 

Jauro Hassan who further called on the youths to support the initiatives added that the new market will create job opportunities for them.

 

He further stated that both the State and local Governments will provide modalities to protect the lives and property of the people in the market.

 

The vice chairman Gwari Sellers' Association in the State, Mallam Jibril Abubakar lauded the State and local governments for establishing the new market.

 

Abubakar who added that the market is large enough to accommodate as many trucks that want to offload the products hence the need to support the initiative,

assured their commitment and dedication to achieve their noble goals.

 

Speaking with newsmen in an interview shortly the Commissioner called on the people of the immediate community to appreciate Governor Agbu Kefas for such a gesture. Urging them to stand firm in protecting the market, Peter George emphasized that it's their advantage or disadvantage if the market succeeds or fails.

 

"They should contribute their quota in helping the Gwari Sellers to achieve their objectives in the market", he added.
