Taraba partners CCECC On Energy,Infrastructure Development


 

Dr. Agbu Kefas, Governor of Taraba State, hosted a meeting in Abuja with the President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation to discuss Taraba State's development with Stakeholders. The meeting was convened this Friday in the conference room of TY Danjuma House, Asokoro, Abuja.

 

At the Meeting, Dr. Agbu Kefas conveyed optimism about the prospective collaboration between Taraba and CCECC, emphasizing its potential to harness the state's substantial resources.

 

The Governor highlighted the state's vast natural resources, emphasizing that his administration's initiatives will have a lasting impact on future generations.

 

He explained that the stakeholder's engagement will forge a new path that will propel the state towards the achievement of its development goals.

 

Kefas noted that the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Danbaba Suntai Airport in Jalingo, which is the gateway to the state, is a demonstration of the commitment of his administration towards the transformation of the state and to open it up to various opportunities.

 

He further revealed that the meeting's agenda centered on three pivotal areas: energy development, infrastructural development, and economic and food security, along with other vital issues, to propel the state's development.

 

Expressing hope, he said "In no distant time, Taraba is going to take the lead in energy distribution", adding that a new hydropower project with CCECC will be launched to distribute the energy to the state and other parts of the country.

 

The Governor said by working with CCECC, the state can expand its road networks, improve the transportation system, manage its natural resources and drive the state economy in the interest of all.

 

The President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation [CCECC], Mr Chan Sichang, who was represented by the Chief Executive Director of the Company, Mr Zhou Dongping, said their partnership with the Taraba state Government is a remarkable step in the development of the state.

 

He stressed the crucial importance of infrastructure for the state's progress and prosperity, and declared his readiness to serve the state, observing that CCECC has established itself as a major service provider in the country.

 

Briefing the meeting on the state of the development of the Taraba state Master Plan, Engr. Alex Oniegbusaid the Taraba Development Master Plan 2024 did not only concentrate on Jalingo, the state capital but made provisions for the development of senatorial zones and all the local government areas of the state.

 

He said their firm undertook the Abuja Phase Two Master Plan and expressed hope that the state will soon be a force to reckon with as far as development. 

 

At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU between the Taraba State Government and the CCECC was signed.
