Taraba Has Great Tourism Potentials, Gov Kefas Tells Tourism Minister



The Taraba State Governor Dr. Kefas Agbu called for greater attention to be directed towards Taraba State, especially the Mambilla Plateau, due to its favorable conditions for tourism.

The Governor, represented by his Deputy, Alh. Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, made the appeal when he received the Honourable Minister of Tourism, Lola Ade-John, during her state visit aimed at engaging with government officials and exploring local tourist attractions.

Governor Agbu viewed the Minister's visit as timely, given Taraba State's significant tourism potential, which is capable of contributing to the national economy.

During the visit, Hon. Joseph T. Nagombe, the Commissioner for Heritage and Eco-tourism, noted that the Minister's efforts had revived the tourism stakeholders meeting between Federal and state tourism Commissioners for the first time in over eight years. Taraba State actively participated in the meeting, which was approved by Governor Agbu, allowing the Ministry to showcased key tourism sites and their potentials.

 According to him, he was excited for the Minister to have honored their invitation which he has been engaging her for long.

In her remarks, Minister Lola Ade-John expressed gratitude for the Governor's warm hospitality and acknowledged the state's aspirations for growth and development. She revealed that Taraba is renowned for its Tea and scenic beauty, emphasizing the necessity of offering authentic experiences to visitors rather than merely superficial attractions.

The Minister encouraged the preservation of tourist sites and the need to rethink tourism strategies to incorporate local elements and likened the people of Coma, Adamawa state to Ndola people of NGADA, Taraba State and encouraged the preservation of such as they attract tourists.

The Minister said she came with a team of investors who are ready to invest in the tourism sector of the state.
