Kwararafa University Honours David Sabo Kente For Selfless Service



Prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress APC and  philanthropist and Chief David Sabo Kente DSK, is set to receive an honorary doctorate degree (Honoris Causa) from Kwararafa University in Wukari, Taraba State.

According to the University, the prestigious recognition is a testament to DSK's significant contributions to the university and the broader community in Nigeria.

 

The university announced that the honour will be conferred during its second combined convocation ceremony on November 9, 2024. The ceremony will celebrate individuals whose efforts have made meaningful impacts on society.

 

Professor Shishi Zhema, Vice Chancellor of Kwararafa University, praised Kente as an exemplary ambassador of Nigeria, highlighting his relentless commitment to empowering the people of Taraba State. Kente's philanthropic efforts through the DSK Foundation have been particularly noteworthy, providing scholarships, donating to orphanages, and supporting underprivileged communities.

 

Kente's commitment to societal betterment has earned him numerous accolades, including the titles of "Ambassador of Peace and Societal Development" and "Icon of Humanitarian Services" from the Taraba State Students Union. His acceptance of this honorary degree marks a significant moment, as he has previously declined similar honors from other institutions.

 

Joining Kente at the convocation will be other distinguished honorees, such as Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo and former Group Managing Director of NNPC, Andrew Yakubu. This collective celebration reflects the university's mission to honor those who contribute to societal advancement.

 

Beyond his philanthropic work, Kente is a successful businessman and politician, having contested for the Taraba state gubernatorial seat under the All Progressives Congress. His "Restoration Agenda" aims to leverage the state's natural resources to foster job creation and stimulate economic growth.

 

The Jukun Development Association of Nigeria (JDAN) has expressed heartfelt congratulations to Chief Kente on this honour. They noted that the recognition underscores Kente's unwavering dedication to the development of Jukunland and his exceptional leadership within the community.
