Resident Calls For Establishment Of Air Force Base in Kashimbila
A concerned citizen, Jimkuta Emmanuel, has called for the establishment of a Nigerian Air Force training and combat base at the Kashimbila airport in TakumLocal Government Area of Taraba State.
According to Emmanuel, the move is crucial for addressing the persistent security challenges facing the southern part of the state, which has been plagued by violent attacks, kidnappings, and banditry. The region, bordering the Republic of Cameroon, is a hotspot for economic activities, making it imperative for the Nigerian government to establish a strong military presence.
Emmanuel argued that an air force base in Kashimbila would provide essential aerial surveillance for the border areas, enabling rapid response to emergencies in remote locations. Additionally, it would stimulate economic growth in the region by enhancing the airport and dam infrastructure, creating jobs, and boosting local businesses.
The proposed base is also expected to improve food security by guaranteeing the safety of farmers and encouraging them to return to their fields. Furthermore, it would enhance Nigeria's territorial integrity by deterring criminal activities and illegal immigration.
Emmanuel urged Southern Taraba stakeholders in the National Assembly to prioritize this proposal and take necessary steps to secure the establishment of the air force base.
