Flood Wreak Havoc in Jalingo Community



The people of Bakari Dan Abdu community in Turaki A  area of Jalingo have called  for urgent government intervention as flooding continues to wreak havoc on their homes and properties.

The community was hit by flood leading to widespread destruction and displacement following heavy rainfall recently.

A community leader and  Turaki of Muri, Mallam. Muhammad Auwal Turaki, said that flooding has resulted in the destruction of buildings, properties, and valuable belongings, with estimates suggesting that the damage is worth millions.

He said that flood over ran many houses including  bedrooms, and kitchens, leaving residents with no choice but to relocate.

Another resident of the area, Auwal Turaki blamed  the re-occurrence of flood in the area  to the lack of adequate drainage systems and blocked waterways.

He appealed to the government and individuals to come to their aid, as the situation is increasingly becoming unbearable.

The Sarkin Matasan Bakari Dan Abdu, Abdulrrahman Harisu Tunare, said that they are in dire need of support to rebuild and recover from this disaster.

He urged the government to take immediate action to address the flooding issue, including the construction of wider drainage systems and the clearance of blocked waterways.

Harisu Tunare further said that residents are hoping for a swift response to their call for help, as they work to rebuild their lives and properties, adding that they are expecting urgent intervention from the government.
