Why Chief Of Ibi Welcomed Wadume To His Palace - Group

A group known as Southern Taraba movement for peace said the paramount ruler of Ibi Chiefdom, in Ibi Local Government Area of Taraba State, Alhaji Abubakar Salifu Danbawuro III did nothing wrong to have welcomed Hamisu Bala Wadume to his palace few days after he serving his jail term.

 

 

The spokesperson of the group,  Jashuu Wanu while briefing journalists in Jalingo said the Monarch received Hamisu Bala (aka Wadume) at his place because of his role as a father to all people of Ibi.

 

 

He hinted that Wadume was released by the federal government after serving his seven years jail term which is said to have run concurrently. 

 

 

"We want those criticizing our Monarch to know that the court of the land released Wadume, and as usual the kidnap kingpin cannot sneak into Ibi town without the knowledge of his Royal father. 

 

 

Beside, the paramount ruler was not even aware that Wadume was released, it his member representing the good people of Ibi state constituency at the state House of Assembly who called him and told him that he was coming to his palace for homage.

 

 

It was when the member came to the palace that the Monarch saw him and Wadume with mammoth crowd and there was nothing he could do as at that time" he noted.

 

 

He stressed that the Monarch did well to have advised the kidnap kingpin not to go back to  his old ways, adding that even repented terrorists usually got reintegrated back into the society. 

 

 

"Therefore those who are criticizing the Monarch to have received Wadume at his palace are doing wrongly. 

 

 

Wadume after he was freed by the court only came to thank the Monarch for their prayers and concern" he stressed. 

 

 

It could be called that Wadume was arrested by operatives of the inspector general of police intelligence response team in 2019.
