Late Hosea Ibi Murder: We are looking for Hon Shiban Tikari- Taraba CP
The Taraba State Police Command has said it's on the trail to arrest the former chairman Takum local government council of Taraba state Hon ShibanTikari as ordered by the Chief Justice of the state.
The Chief Judge has ordered the police to arrest Hon Shiban Tikari over his involvement in the mulderof late Hon. Hosea Ibi, former member representing Takum I at the state house of assembly.
Ibi, was kidnapped on December 30, 2017, was found dead at the old site of SCC (Kwari) along Takum Kashimbila Road in Takum Local Government Area of the state.
The body of the lawmaker was found 16 days after he was kidnapped by unknown gunmen from his house, opposite Ada Barracks in Takum, the headquarters of Takum Local Government Area of the state.
Those involved in the killing of the late lawmaker were arrested, prosecuted at the Taraba High Court presided by Justice Joel Agya, all the convicts during cross examination at the court revealed that they were contracted by the former Takum local government chairman Hon. Tikari to abduct Ibi.
The commissioner of police Taraba state command Mr. David Iloyonomon while briefing journalists at the police headquarters in Jalingo said the police are all out to ensure the arrest of the former local government boss over his alleged involvement in the mulder of the late lawmaker.
"We initially didn't want to make much noise over our plans to get Hon Tikari arrested because we know that such persons can escape.
"We are looking for him, we recently gathered that he has left the state, we have been trailing to arrest him for possible prosecution, anywhere here he is, we must get him arrested, is just a matter of time.
The police commissioner also said the police have recorded tremendous arrest of criminals and intercept weapons in their bid to bring peace in the state.
Parading the suspects before newsmen, David Iloyanomon, said the suspects were arrested for various offenses, including kidnapping, armed robbery and culpable homicide.
Highlighting the significant strides made by the Police in curbing criminal activities within the state, the commissioner commended the collaborative efforts between the security agencies and the public, which he said have led to notable achievements in combating various forms of criminality.
Reeling out the Command's successes, he said several arrests were made, including the apprehension of Abdulkarim Ibrahim, a notorious kidnapper operating in Sardauna local government council.
"Numerous firearms, including AK-47 rifles, pistols and ammunition, were seized during operations targeting armed criminals," he said.
The commissioner who also announced that progress was made in solving cases of homicide, including the arrest of suspects linked to the killing of a local monarch in Gassol local government council, said the arrest of individuals engaged in cyber-crime activities, including impersonation of police officers, highlights ongoing efforts to combat digital crimes within the state.
