Taraba Begins Move To Digitally Register Peasant Farmers

The Taraba State Government has disclosed that it will commence information capturing of peasant farmers across the 168 wards of the state to enable it's have a digital register.

The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security Professor Nicholas Nemessan made the disclosure during a press conference in Jalingo.

The Commissioner said that governor Agbu Kefas led Administration has taken measures that will cover all farmers in the sixteen local government areas in the state.

According to him, the essence of the bio-Data capturing is to have the exact numbers of famers in Taraba state with a view to provide farming input and implements to boost food production for the nation.
            
The Managing Director of Zipware Housing Nigeria limited, Mrs Uchenna Eshareturi said the exercise is divided into three stages which includes the Identification, verification, and Enrollment of farmers for inclusion into the Data Base of Taraba state.

She further explained that the Identification stage will identify all farmers through awareness creation and collection of their data thereby moving to verifying the farmers by identifying the farms, using of technology to map out the coordinates that will be used as data and uploaded on the website of the ministry of Agriculture.

According to her, the data will create a robust information for both local and international investors, giving them information on what and where they can find certain crops that is required.

 On the Enrollment stage, she said the verified farmers biometrics face and finger prints amongst other information will be inputted into the Data Base of the state to enable the state distribute all palliative to the farmers when necessary.
                   
Eshareturi, said Taraba state has the capacity to feed the nation which can only be done through proper record of farmers for any possible intervention of Government.

While appreciating the governor of the state Dr Agbu Kefas for the opportunity to execute the project, She assured the ministry of Agriculture and people of Taraba of her commitment for a proper, transparent and clean data that will enable the ministry of agriculture function well.
