PRESS RELEASE BY THE KUTEB PEACE MOVEMENT IN RESPONSE TO THE DEROGATORY STATEMENT BY THE KUTEB YATSO OF NIGERIA REGARDING KUTEB PACE MOVEMENT

Ladies and gentlemen, our attention has been drawn to a statement by the Kuteb YATSO of Nigeria KYN distancing itself from the unanimous decision of the indigenous Kutebs living in Takum to embrace dialogue and peace in the interest of everyone.

This itself is a pointer to the fact that they are not in tune with the heart cry of the people they claim to represent.

It may interest you to know that we who live in Takum understand very well the consequences of rebelling against the government and will always be at the receiving end should anything happen to our fragile peaceful co-existence.

We therefore, do not see any reason to support our brothers in the diaspora who may only end up sending words of comfort to those of us resident in Takum.

We want our brothers to know that the Kutebs Peace Movement is a new group of Kutebs living in Takum Local Government and we have the constitutional and traditional rights to speak out our positions.

Takum Belongs to all of us. You can't silence those of us with contrary opinion.
Also, we have the mandate to speak for the peace loving Kuteb people living in Takum.

It may interest the public to know that The Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria (KYN) the umbrella body of Kuteb world wide has over the years used threat, intimidations and curses to silence many Kutebs with contrary opinion to its position on the Ukwe Takum Throne.

At several meetings those who spoke against the position of KYN were tagged enemies of the Kutebs Nation but we all know that the real enemies of the Kuteb Nation are KYN leaders who wants to force a war on the people living in Takum.

The world should know that many prominent Kutebs and those in our villages have chosen peace, dialogue over KYN's approach to engage the government. Our people wants to peace.

We are engaging more people, very soon our voice will be louder than those calling for war.

Let's make it clear that we are not against the Traditional Paramount Ruler of Kutebs Nation, Ukwe Rimamnyang Habu Ahmadu II, we rever him.

We must heal, Ukwe is spiritual it doesn't matter if government recognizes it or not, Ukwe is the Supreme and Spiritual Leader of the Kuteb people, we as a group recognizes and pledge our loyalty to Ukwe throne but not at the cost of our lives and peace in Takum.

But It's right time that we understand that the Kutebs have a common enemy with all tribes in Takum, the enemy wants to take over our land. Hence, our people no longer go to farm, some of our brothers and sisters have been killed, some of our villages have been deserted, most of the victims of the incessant attacks are still at IDP camps.

What do we gain loosing more of our people?

We would never allow anyone including KYN leaders to destroy our heritage. Posterity and generations unborn will never forgive us if we choose war against Dialogue and Peace.

Thank you.

Thank you for your attention.
