TAGIS Issues 745 Digital Certificate of Occupancy

The General Manager of Taraba Geographic Information System, TAGIS, Dr Mark Joshua Ma'aku says  about 745 digital Certificate of Occupancy has been issued out since the creation of the agency.

Dr Mark Joshua Ma'aku speaking during  an interview with Government House Jalingo said about 50, 000 property records in five local government areas such as Jalingo, Zing, Gassol, Wukari and Takum where 70% property records were covered in the local government headquarters.

He announced that TAGIS has also secured the approval of the Governor of Taraba State Dr Agbu Kefas to cover the remaining urban Centres in the state and that they will soon mobilize enumerators to site.

Dr Mark Joshua Ma'aku noted that if the agency is fully utilize the state will not longer depend on Federal allocation to pay salary as it has the capacity to boost economic development by facilitating investment in land and property which contributes to economic growth.

He explained that Digital land information systems play a crucial role in modernizing land administration, promoting good governance, and supporting sustainable development.

He added that Geographic Information System enhances decision making processes, fosters collaboration among stakeholders and contributes to sustainable development across various sectors by providing spatially referenced information and analytical tools.

He noted that the Geographic Information System also helps in planning and management, disaster management, environmental conservation, public health and infrastructural development among others.
