Prioritize The Payment Of Gratuities, Youth Group Tells Gov Kefas

The Taraba Youth Transformation Initiative (TYTI) has appeal to the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas to prioritize the payment of gratuities for retired civil servants in the state. 

In a statement signed by TYTI Executive Director/CEO  Emmanuel  Yakubu, the group call on the attention of Dr. Agbu Kefas to consider the plight of the good number of Tarabans who diligently served the State government for 35 years and have retired for over a decade without receiving their gratuities. 

"Many of these well meaning citizens have died, while some are homeless or still living in rented apartments after retirement. Your Excellency may wish to note that over 80 % of the retirees are entitled to less than 5 million naira. 

"As at the time of retirement 3-5 years ago, the value of the then perceived big money the poor retirees were hoping to get and build a retirement home has lost so much value due to the current realities. On behalf of our legends, we therefore appeal to His Excellency to consider their plights and give them succour by ensuring they or their beneficiaries are paid."

The Youth group however salutes the Governor  Agbu Kefas for his many giant strides in attending to critical areas of governance since his assumption of office, including resuscitating and completing abandoned projects left by previous administrations.

"As an organization advocating for good governance in the state, we have observed some patriotic steps taken by the administration, especially, towards ensuring that all abandoned projects started by previous administrations are resuscitated and completed. This is a demonstration of the uncommon commitment of Dr. Agbu Kefas to changing the narrative of development in the State for the better."
