Don’t Assault Nurses In Taraba, Association Warns Patient’s Relatives

Patient's Relatives have been advised to desist from Assaulting  Nurses working across medical facilities  Taraba State.

The State Chairman of the National Association Of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives NANNM, Pius Nathaniel stated this while speaking with our Reporter in Jalingo.

Pius explained that recently a patient Relatives assaulted a nurse working with the Federal Medical Center Jalingo the situation he described as uncalled for.

He said the Nurse had blood coming out of her face which prompted the Union to report the incident to the police to seek justice.

He advised that any patients coming to the hospital should follow lay down procedure for service delivery which he said is the duty of the nurses.

Also commenting on the ugly situation, the Acting Chairman of NANNM, Federal Medical Center jalingo Bilha Yusuf Salami said the association will not condole such an act.

She said recently two of their Nurses were held on the neck by patient Relatives.

She said the very day the incident happened two other nurses from another unit came to assist the patient.

Salami noted that Nurses are caregivers and advised that protocols should be adhered to.
