Promo on Cover: Taraba PRP Chairman Accused of Embezzling N2m Party Funds

Fresh crisis is rocking the Peoples Redemption Party PRP in Taraba State as Concern members of the party are accusing its State Chairman Abdullahi Maikasuwa of embezzling some money donated to the party.

Concern members of PRP Taraba State chapter in a statement said the chairman allegedly embezzled the sum of two million Naira N2,000,000 being a donation given by Senatorial Candidate (Taraba state PRP) in the 2023 general election. 

They also demanded that the state chairman should account for the whereabouts of the N250,000 given by the State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) for the conduct of the local government election being on 18th of this November. 

All efforts to reach Maikasuwa to respond to this allegations  as at time of this report proved abortive.

Concern members of PRP Taraba State Chapter 

Press Statement:

We the concern members of PRP Taraba state chapter, want to notify the general assembly of the rising concern within the state structure: 

1. We want to inform you about the high handedness of our so called state chairman…. who used his elder brother's office (being the attorney general of state) to illegally imprisoned our Jalingo local government chairman, LC (the ALGON Chairman)  Abdullahi Nasiru  because he demanded that the state chairman should account for the whereabouts of the N250,000 given by the State Independent Electoral Commission (TSIEC) for the conduct of the local government election being on 18th of this November.

2. After consultations with the state attorney general, he intervene accordingly, and was disheartened with the misused of his office by his brother the state chairman. He immediately called the Magistrate and the LC was released same day he was illegally imprisoned, 16th November, 2023 and reiterated that his office is meant to help people not to trample on people's right.

3. You may recalled that the Taraba state working committee, after fulfilling all that is required within the party's Constitution, Suspended the state chairman due his impunity and embezzling of funds, but the able National chairman and other National working committee members invited both parties at loggerhead and settled the situation.

4. The state chairman  allegedly embezzled the sum of two million Naira N2,000,000 being a donation given by Senatorial Candidate (Taraba state PRP) in the 2023 general election. 

5. All the above and many took place after the intervention of the NWC. 

6. We will like to State that, we can still amicably follow the due process within the constitution to suspend the state chairman, but to us it's a futile venture, as we feel that it will still be reversed within the power that be. But we will follow up with evidence within our purview to seek for the party's right regarding the embezzled funds. 

7. His presence as the so called state chairman is day by day denting the image of the party within the state because of his misdemeanors. 

8. We are speaking up, staying consistent, staying the course for what is right, just and fair for posterity to judge us. We take our roles as PRP members and citizens seriously. We have other means but we choose to be upright.

8. Finally we want to reassure the general assembly that we remain in PRP, not to use it as a tool to defraud the nation but to follow up and imbibe it's guiding principles.
