NNPP's Candidate Yahaya Sani Rejects Tribunal Ruling Affirming Gov Kefas’s Victory

The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), Professor Yahaya  Sani, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the recent ruling of the Taraba State Tribunal. 

Professor Sani has vowed to seek justice through an appeal process, in the hopes of overturning the decision.

 

The Taraba State Tribunal, led by three-man panel of justice, affirmed the election victory of Dr. Agbu Kefas, declaring him as the duly elected Governor of Taraba State. 

 

However, this ruling did not sit well with Professor Yahaya A. Sani, who believes that there were irregularities and discrepancies in the election process that affected the outcome.

 

Speaking at a press conference following the tribunal's ruling, Professor Sani expressed his disappointment. 

 

He stated, "We strongly disagree with the tribunal's decision. Our team has found evidence of election irregularities, which we believe had a significant impact on the final result. We will not rest until justice is served, and we will be taking our case to the Court of Appeal."

However, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has appealed to the opposition NNPP to accept the state governorship election petition Tribunal judgment of Saturday, so as to save the state resources.

Governor  Kefas while reacting to the judgement appealed to the opposition party and its governorship candidate to accept the judgement in good faith and join him in the strive to develop Taraba state.

According to him, prolonged legal battle would only deplete the resources that would have been channeled for the development of Taraba to improve the lives of the citizens.

"I wish to commend the judges for their dedication to the course of justice during the proceedings and their unwavering commitment to fairness, honesty and uprightness in strict accordance with the law. The judges' conscience reaffirmed the strength of the democratic institution.

"I wish to state here that there are invaluable lessons to learn from the past, and I appealed to the opposition party and its governorship candidate, Professor Sani Yaya, to accept the judgement in good faith and join me in the strive to develop Taraba state.

"Prolonged legal battle would only deplete the state's resources that would have been channeled for the development of Taraba to improve the lives of the citizens," the governor appealed.

Gov. Kefas also thanked religious and traditional rulers, as well as supporters and citizens of the state for standing by his administration with unwavering prayers and support.

 A three-man panel had dismissed the petition brought by NNPP and its governorship candidate, Professor Sani Yaya for lack of merit, and affirmed that Kefas was the duly elected governor of the state.
