Despite Beefing Up Security, Kidnappers Reign Terror in Jalingo, Ardo Kola

Residents of  Jalingo and its neighboring area of Ardo Kola continue to be gripped by a wave of terror as kidnappers operate with apparent impunity, despite increased security efforts by the State government. 

 

The state government had  deployed additional personnel and implement  various security measures in the last few days but the criminals seem to finding ways to carry out their heinous acts.

The criminals had shift operation base from Mayo Dassa, Gullum axis of Jalingo to Nasorawo area after security operatives intensified patrol at the area.

 

Over the past several months, incidents of kidnappings have been on the rise, causing panic and anxiety amongst the residents. 

 

 The situation has raised serious concerns among the residents, who have expressed their frustration over the inability of security agencies to put an end to the rampant kidnappings. 

 

Despite assurances from government officials that the situation is under control, the recent surge in incidents continues to shatter that illusion.

Ve'ndu Na'nge village in Ardo Kola local government area of Taraba State was stunned by a violent incident of kidnap on Tuesday. 

 

Seven people were reportedly abducted by a group of unidentified gunmen who had infiltrated the quiet village in the early hours of the day. 

 

The crime occurred despite the valiant efforts of the Police public relations officer of Taraba state police command DSP Usman Abdullahi, who assured the people of the security measures being taken for them.

 

The alarming news of the kidnap that spread across the entire neighbourhood triggered shockwaves and fear of the unknown in the hearts of residents. 

 

It was learned that the incident happened while the kidnappers were on a mission to kidnap several people in their homes. 

 

Speaking to Taraba Truth and Facts Correspondent, Anka Dauda, a local resident of Ve'ndu Na'nge village, narrated how the kidnappers took away seven people while they were going about their daily activities.

 

"During the morning, we all witnessed the presence of some strangers in the village. 

 

We didn't suspect anything initially, but when things started getting heated, we realised that they were kidnappers," Anka Dauda recounted.

 

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, in response to the unfortunate incident, has directed an added operation to ensure the protection of the residents of Ve'ndu Na'nge village. Security personnel have been deployed to the area to investigate and track down the kidnappers.

 

"Efforts are being made to ensure the safe return of the kidnapped persons. The security personnel beef-up in Ve'ndu Na'nge village, and all neighboring environs are to forestall more kidnappings," the commissioner said.

 

The people of Taraba State are advised not to panic but to report all suspicious movements to the authorities for prompt intervention. 

 

The Police Command urges anyone with useful information that might lead to the release of the kidnapped individuals to come forward as their anonymity will be guaranteed.

 

The Police Public Relations Officer of Taraba State Police Command DSP Usman Abdullahi, is confident in a statement that the abductees will be rescued and the kidnappers of Ve'ndu Na'nge village brought to justice.

 

Adamu Ibrahim a local security said ''we have been working closely with community leaders and other stakeholders to promote information sharing and community involvement in crime prevention.

 

Nevertheless, these efforts have had limited success, primarily due to the sheer audacity and adaptability of the criminals. 

 

He added that ''the daring nature of these kidnappers has raised concerns about the extent of their reach and potential for collaboration with external criminal syndicates. 

 

Efforts to dismantle their networks have proven challenging, as the kidnappers exhibit a high level of organization and sophistication''.
