Let’s Put Taraba First, Gov Kefas Begs Stakeholders

Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has called on all indigenes of the state occupying various positions in Abuja to channel resources, knowledge, and influence for the growth and development of the state.

 

The Governor was speaking at the meeting of critical stakeholders of Taraba State living and working in Abuja

 

The meeting was held at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, to brainstorm on the way forward as far as the development and progress of the state is concerned.

 

The meeting was convened at the instance of the Executive Governor of the State, Dr Agbu Kefas as part of his administration's commitment to run an inclusive government aimed at moving the state forward and participants at the meeting cut across political parties lines.

 

Addressing the gathering, the Governor stated that the forum was created to strengthen bonds and ties that brought the people together despite the diversity that abounds in the state.

 

Dr. Agbu Kefas said the state has faced a series of challenges in recent times and urged all Tarabans in high places in Abuja to lend support to initiatives aimed at enhancing peace and security within the state either by community engagement or information sharing and collaboration with local authorities stressing that their involvement can play a pivotal role in ensuring a safer Taraba for all.

 

He urged the gathering to foster peaceful coexistence in the state, embrace each other's differences and uphold the values that bind the people together.

 

Dr. Agbu Kefas noted that economic development is very crucial and urged the stakeholders to invest in the state's economic growth through entrepreneurship, investment in key sectors, or provision of mentorships to the Youths, calling on them to take actions that can change the state to a better One.

 

Dr. Agbu Kefas took time to brief the gathering on what his administration has done so far and his commitment to a better Taraba State.

 

Earlier In his address of welcome, the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Barr Gebon Timothy Kataps, said the state is blessed with both Human and natural resources, and harnessing them required the input of all.

 

He said the place of collaboration cannot be over-emphasized if the state must grow urging participants at the meeting to prioritize the overall interest and growth of Taraba.

 

The Meeting provided an opportunity for the participants to air their views about the development of the state and also brought their suggestions on the way forward.

 

Some of the Speakers suggested to the Government to look inward for revenue generation and invest heavily in agriculture, security and make mining sectors to move the state forward.

 

Participants at the meeting include the state Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, Former Governor Jolly Nyame, Former Deputy Governor Alhaji Armayau Abubakar, A Ministerial Nominee Alhaji Uba Maigari, Members of the National Assembly both serving and former, retired military officers and judges and those holding one political appointment or the other among others.
