Youths Protest appointment of Non-Indigene As CMD Teaching Hospital, Wukari

The Taraba Youths Congress have expressed displeasure over the appointment of a non indigene as the acting Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Wukari saying the state have eminently qualified individuals to occupy such position.

 

Addressing a press conference Chairman Taraba Youths Congress Comrade Wapan Bahar and his Secretary Wisdomreal Adati called on Governor Agbu Kefas, all elected Federal representatives, elder statesman, Lt Gen TY Danjuma and all Taraba stakeholders to intervene because the state have eminently qualified indigenous medical persons to serve in the capacity.

 

The youth group said the recent appointment threatens the peace, stability and unity amongst indigenous people of Taraba State.

They said many Federal establishments in other states are headed by qualified indigenes which have helped foster good relationship with the host communities.

 

The youths lamented the non-inclusion of indigenes in the list of the heads of federal establishments and principal officers in the state despite its abundance of capable hands from our State to fill such positions. 

 

 "The announcement of establishment of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Wukari came with whirl jubilation among teeming Tarabans, with high expectations that our people will benefit from it just like is obtainable in other Federal University Teaching Hospitals in Nigeria.

 

"But the appointment of the acting Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Wukari didn't only come to us as a surprise, but also with rude shock giving the numbers of available capable hands the State has to pioneer this institution and benefit from the employments, as against giving it to outsiders who will end up disenfranchising our peoples chances by employing people from his state and other states to settle friends and family.
