Court Affirms Abubakar Bawa As Taraba PDP Chair

A Federal High court sitting in Jalingo has affirmed the Appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Bawa as the substantive Chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, in Taraba State.

In his ruling, the presiding judge said the plaintiff, Inuwa Bakare did not exhaust the party dispute resolution mechanisms before approaching the court seeking for the nullification of Abubakar Bawa as the party's chairman.

 

The judge also noted that there is no provision for Acting chairman in the PDP constitution as claimed by the plaintiff which can be used to ascend to substantive Chairman of the party.

 

He therefore struck out the case against Abubakar Bawa as the state PDP chairman for lack of Jurisdiction to entertain the case and refused to grant the interlocutory injunction sought for by the plaintiff.

 

Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Ahmadu Hamidu also spoke on the court judgment and called on all members of the PDP to remain united.
