How I Emerged Taraba State PDP Chairman - Abubakar Bawa

Newly  appointed chairman The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in Taraba State Abubakar Bawa has explained how he emerged  as the new chairman of the Party.

Before his appointment, Bawa was the Special Adviser on political matters to the State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku.

Bawa took over the party's mantle of leadership from the Acting Chairman, Alhaji Inuwa Bakari.

Speaking shortly after his announcement as the party chairman, Bawa said he emerged the party chairman as a decision of the State Executive Council including all local government chairmen of the party.

He said the decision was communicated to the Zonal office of the party and the National Secretariat of the PDP for approval  to complete the four year tenure of  Col. Agbu Kefas (rtd) who resigned from the seat six months ago to contest the governorship race

Bawa while resuming office called on the party's faithful to unite and give the much needed helping hand to the incoming governor, Agbu Kefas.

The new chairman who vowed to operate an open door policy, reiterated his commitment to carrying all the party's members along and affirmed his readiness to work closely with the party's executive at both the state and the national levels.

He said, "I have been a member of PDP since 1999 when the return of democracy in Nigeria, I never for once defected to any political party, I am PDP and PDP is me".

Bawa said, "I know all the members of the party in the state, for me as the state chairman, I promise to do my best for the progress of our party and Taraba state in particular."

Citing the just concluded general election where the Party emerged victorious in the state, PDP in Taraba, he said "have been winning the governor seat and senate" stressing that "we must remain together in order for us to bring the desired dividends of democracy to our people."

Bawa said it will soon commence moves to reconcile all the aggrieved members of the party within the state.

"We are going to start reconciliation in the party across the board. We will ensure that we reach out to all members who are aggrieved as a result of the outcome of the elections so that they will come back and join us to work as a team."

"PDP as a party has not failed Taraba State and that is why we have been sustaining victory. It is our belief that as a ruling party in the state, we will do it again as we have been doing in the previous terms".

Aligning his weight to that of the Party chairman, the Vice Chairman PDP North-East, Emmanuel Bovoa, believed that the reconciliation process, if achieved, would further strengthen PDP in the state.
