FOI Act: Rock FM 92.3 Jalingo Demands Details Of Unconcluded Recruitment Exercise

A private radio station in Jalingo, Rock FM 92.3 has invoked the Freedom of Information Act  to compel Taraba State Government to provide details of the suspended recruitment exercise into the State Civil Service.

 

In a letter addressed to the Governor, Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the State Civil Service Commission dated 21st September, 2022 and sighted by our correspondent on Sunday, the management of the station demanded the government to provide explanation of what  applicants should expect.

 

The State government had suspended a recruitment exercise which began last year after screening and names of successful applicants were made public.

 

The recruitment exercise followed sales of application forms to each applicants at the rate of 3,500 and thousands of job seekers applied for the recruitment exercise.

 

The letter reads, "we are aware the recruitment process started with the sale of forms online sometime in 2021 and subsequent screening and shortlisting of names of the successful applicant's, the exercise was suspended on the order of Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku.

  

"Since the suspension of the recruitment exercise in May 2022, Tarabans and the applicants precisely who spent their hard-earned resources in the face of economic hardship in the country have remained in suspense, confusion and apprehension over the silence of the state government.

 

"On this premise as a media organization that is saddled with the responsibility of educating and informing the public we demand details of the online application, including number of applicants and amount realized as well as what applicants should expect."

 

Going by the provision of the Freedom of Information Act, the Government has seven days under make a reply on the request.
