APC Supporters 'Mock Bwacha's Reconciliation Meeting'

·         Says Party Not Ready To Win Election in Taraba

 

Supporters of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Taraba state have mocked a reconciliation meeting within the party headed by its governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, saying aggrieved party leaders were not carried along at the meeting.

 

The outcome of the party's primaries had plunged into crisis with some of the members threatened to pitch tents with opposition parties, a situation which had threatened the party's hope of forming the next government in the state.

Sources in the party told Taraba Truth and Facts that the leadership of the party at the national level has directed Senator Emmanuel Bwacha to do all he can to reconcile with the aggrieved members of the party to place the party in a better position to winning the 2023 general elections.

 

Speaking at the reconciliation meeting, the party's state chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, said the move is geared towards ensuring victory for the party come the next general polls slated for next year.

He said reconciling all aggrieved members of the party after the primary election "is key pointing out that doing so would help in achieving victory at the next general elections."

He expressed optimism that the move for reconciliation is the best and in the interest of the party's success.

The party's guber candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha  passionately appealed to all members of the party to put the issue of the primary elections behind them and forge ahead in unity to achieve success in the 2023 election.

He assured them that he has no grudge against anyone and urged all aggrieved members to sheath their swords and do away with every bickering.

 

However the Taraba Progressives Movement a group within the APC wondered how a reconciliation dialogue  in the party could be held without the presence of major stakeholders like Chief David Sabo Kente, APC Senatorial Candidate for Taraba North, Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi, Senator Yusuf A Yusuf, Former Acting Governor Garba Umar UTC,  former minister of power, Engr. Saleh Mamman among others.

 

 

The group coordinator Mahammad Umar said the meeting has made mockery of the intention of the supposed APC governorship candidate, Senator Bwacha and his followers to win the next election.

"APC in Taraba state can't win the governorship election with the current crisis in the party and that meeting of Bwacha's followers has shown that they are not ready to win election.

"Taraba APC is having a reconciliation meeting and all our big wings, stakeholders and leaders were not carried along nor invited? What manner of reconciliation is that, those present in that meeting are Bwacha's followers so it could be best described as a meeting of Bwacha and his boys. We are only surprised that the leadership of the party in Taraba state would be part of such mockery," Umar said.

 

 

However, some members of the APC who attended the reconcilation meeting on Tuesday In Jalingo described it as mere joke as almost all the aggrieved members of the party were not in attendance and wondered who Bwacha was reconciling with.

 

"You cannot be having a reconcilation meeting and the major people concerned, those who contested with you and their supporters are not present in the meeting. As far as we are concerned, as it stands and looking at the rancour within our party, I can say APC cannot win the next election in Taraba state", they lamented.
