Army Detain Takum LG Boss, Community Leaders Wants Him Released

 

 The Chairman of Takum Local Government, Shiban Tikari have been arrested by the Nigerian Army, Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper gathered.


The local government chairman was arrested
alongside the Chief of Hausa (Serkin Hausawa) of Takum and the clan head of Chamba (Mai Agwan Chamba) but traditional leaders were allow to go home while the chairman is still under detention as at the time of the report. 


Meanwhile community leaders in Takum are calling on the Chief Army Staff to order for immediate release of  the council chairman Hon.  Tikari from the army detention. 


Elder John Mamman, the chairman Taraba Civil Service Commission who led the community leaders during a press briefing urge the army to release Tikari or show course for why he was arrested and detained for over four days without communicating to his immediate family of his offenses. 


Mamman while addressing the press said the local government boss was arrested and detained four days ago  by the Nigerian Army at 93 Battalion Adda Barrack Takum.


He said initially everybody within the area thought the chairman was invited to the Barrack for questioning over the ongoing crisis between Fulani and Kuteb which have been wrangling within the area for some weeks ago.


The elders express confusion over the arrest of the chairman, stating that even the chairman has killed someone, he has the wright to be held.


"We are calling on the Chief of Army Staff to as a matter of urgency order the release of our chairman from the army detention, is unlawful to detain an executive council chairman without telling his people his offenses. 


"Within the for days of his detention, any time we go there to ask of what is happening with him or what has he done, they always chase us out without telling us anything, they seize his phones, we can not communicate with him nor see him, we are worried and we demanding to know why he is been detained.
