Ahead of the PDP Governorship primary election , Taraba Truth and Fact exclusively gathered t
hat pressure are mounting on aspirants to drop their ambition in favour of an 'anointed candidate'

Most of the aspirants are been contacted by a team set up by Governor Ishaku and some PDP leaders to persuade the aspirants to drop their ambition most especially aspirants from Northern  zone, several sources said.

It's believed that the Party and its leaders recently endorsed an aspirant from Southern Zone to clinch the ticket of the PDP, a move causing ripples among the PDP and its supporters.

This is currently causing a lot of tension among the aspirants and their supporters who are at the cross road of deciding whether to obey the directive believed to be inline with what former Minister of Defense, General Theophilus Y. Danjuma(Rtd) discussed during his visit to the state last week Thursday.

As at yesterday, two leading governorship aspirants from Northern zone in the state have agreed to drop their ambition but insisted that the 'anointed candidate should not be imposed.'

A governorship aspirant who pleaded not to be named said he was contacted by some leaders who claimed to have instruction of Governor Ishaku to discuss with him on stepping down for an individual.

The PDP is expected to hold its primary on Thursday in Jalingo, however, Governor Darius Ishaku is expected to meet with the aspirants ahead of the primary election.
