Taraba Truth And Facts Insist PDP Chairman Purchases Guber Nomination Forms

The Taraba State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party,PDP  Col. Agbu Kefas (retd.) picked the party's governorship nomination form ahead of the 2023 elections, Taraba Truth and Facts is instating.  

 

Kefas had denied Taraba Truth and Fact exclusive update on his purchase of the forms but the newspaper stood by its report.

 

Sources at the PDP National Headquarters in Abuja further confirmed that a set of governorship nomination form  was purchased last week  for the PDP Chairman to contest the next governorship primary election of the party.

The source further revealed that the PDP chairman would be listed for screening.    

Kefas hails from the southern zone where the state governor, Darius Ishaku, who is completing his second and final term of four years, is from.

 

Although Governor Ishaku had severally restate his commitment to follow the existing zoning arrangement in the state, the PDP in the state through a committee wants the contest open for aspirants across the state.

Taraba Truth and Facts gathered that Kefas is expected to announce his decision to contest the election any moment from now.  

 

 

Residents Query Gov. Ishaku On 2,000 'Taraba Amotekuns' Claim

 

Governor Darius Ishaku said he has embraced local policing and have positioned about two thousand marshals called "Taraba Amotekuns" across the state but many residents are querying the claim.

 

Governor Ishaku  while speaking on his challenges as the state governor during a live interview on the "Journalist Hangout" programme on Television Continental  stressed the need for Nigeria to embrace local policing. According to him, decentralizing the Nigerian Police will help to end insecurity.

 

"The only solution to insecurity is to decentralise the police, embrace local police. Our local police marshals have started operations in Taraba State.

 

"Over 2000 marshals have been distributed across the states. You can call them the Taraba Amotekuns'. They have started operations, and we are willing to train more. If you see them dressed, you'd love them."

 

Although the state government had embarked on the construction of command headquarters for state newly established security, (the Taraba Marshall) , residents said they are unaware of the outfit operation in the state.

"We have never seen anyone as Taraba Marshal neither as the out carried out a recruitment exercise  , we are at loss  where these 'Taraba Amotekuns' are operating, we hope government have not been taking money from the state to finance these marshals that are only known to them," A resident in Ibi said.

Ali Ibrahim wondered how 2,000 people could have been recruited without the public knowing.

"Have never seen any of these 2,000 marshals before, where are they, where are they operating from. Its pure lies that se have 2,000 marshals in Taraba state."     

Last year, then Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Danjuma Adamu said  the government was committing huge resources to the project as it would complement governor Ishaku's determination to end insecurity in the state.

 

Adamu disclosed this during a press conference in Jalingo explained that the idea was to create a befitting atmosphere for the Marshall to help compliment the efforts of the security agencies in the fight against all forms of criminality in the state.

 

"We are looking towards ending the general insecurity in Taraba, ranging from farmers/herders clashes, kidnapping and other criminal activities.
