Jalingo High Court Clears Sani Danladi of Age Falsification
A Federal High Court in Jalingo on Wednesday delivered a judgment on a case between Sani Abubakar Danladi Vs West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Suit No. FHC/JAL/CS/2/2022 in favour of Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi.
The judgment delivered by Justice Simon Omobode said that the complainant, Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi has the right to seek for rectification and correction of error on his WAEC result that he sat at Government Secondary School, Karim Lamido.
The judge cited similar judgments which involve errors and corrections of Certificates in many places in Nigeria. The correction of the error is one of the fundamental human rights of the Complainant.
He based his judgment based on WAEC violation of Evidence Act Section 115 subsection 1& 2. Implying that despite Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi application and payment of Ten Thousand Naira to WAEC to correct his result but WAEC refused effect the corrections on time.
The case which was part of the legal battle that started between Usman Udi and others against Senator Abubakar Danladi was then considered a political move to stop Danladi from contesting as 2019 gubernatorial candidate of APC in Taraba State
The implications of the judgement is that Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi is now cleared of any wrong doing in respect of his age falsification legal battle. The error of 1977 instead of 1968 on his SSCE result has become a subject of controversy since 2007 when Sani Abubakar Danladi become the Deputy Governor of Taraba State.
Justice Omobode directed WAEC to correct the error on the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Certificate of Sani Abubakar Danladi using the Order of Mandamus within 48 hours after the service of the orders of the Court.
The Counsel to Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi Barrister Shia commended the Judge for being fair and given justice to who deserve it.
After the delivery of the judgment there were uproar and wild jubilations by the supporters, friends and well wishers of the complainant Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi.
Many political pundits believe that the judgment will provide an easy way for the political ambition and mission of Senator Sani Abubakar Danladi in 2023 politics of Taraba State.
