Taraba Christian Youths Sensitized On Voters Registration, Social Media Usage During Election
The Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) in Taraba State have commenced a statewide sensitization programme on voters registration and usage of social media during election for its members.
Kicking off the program from Southern part of the state,
Chairman YOWICAN Taraba State Chapter, Evang Jesse Ephesian called on the young people in the state without Permanent Voter's Card to strive to obtain it in the ongoing voter's registration exercise to enable them exercise their franchise in 2023 general elections.
Speaking at CRC-N Puje in Wukari and RCCN Ikam, Takum, Jesse charged young people to take part in leadership selection process by registering for permanent voter's card (PVC), and to respect the rules guiding electoral processes.
He urged them to abstain from election rigging, political thuggery and image assassination which may go a long way by denting the needed peace in our dear State.
Urging Christian youths in the state to make good use of social media, Jesse cautioned them to be careful of desperate politicians who engaged them as attack dogs on social media.
He noted that those politicians have nothing good to offer to them but will rather prefer to place them on mini allowance of writing derogatory statements against other politicians and their opponents on social media, advising them to conduct themselves in an orderly manner during and after election processes.
He added that track records of politicians should be put into consideration before electing any person vying for any political office.
Jesse encouraged youths to be watchful, assess the performance and achievements of politicians yearning for political offices, and to find out what such politicians have done to the youths and the masses in their respective constituencies and the State.
The Christian youth leader urged politicians in the state to play politics without bitterness and stop sponsoring religious leaders to preach religious politics in the state which is capable of causing tension and unrest in the state and its environs.
However, the Christian Youths in the southern Taraba have passed vote of confidence on the leadership of Taraba state chapter of the Youth wing CAN.
The vote of confidence was passed at Wukari LGA and Takum respectively which comprises of all the LGAs in the southern Taraba during the sensitization program initiated by it's chairman Evang. Ephesian Jesse
