Alhaji Umaru Yola, Islamic Medical Group Offer Free Medical Service To Jalingo Residents
More than one thousand people benefitted from free medical services during medical outreach sponsored by a Jalingo base businessman Alhaji Umaru Yola in conjunction with Taraba State Chapter of Islamic Medical Association of Nigeria (IMAN).
The event held in Jalingo, the state capital covers free surgeries for hernia and cataract.
Speaking with our reporter, a member of the organizing committee, Alkasim Dalhatu explained that the medical outreach was sponsored by Alhaji Umaru Yola while IMAN is providing technical support.
According to him, the organizers have planned to attend to one thousand people only and so far about seven hundred have registered indicating that by the next week, when the exercise would end, more than one thousand people would be attended to.
Alkasim Dalhatu explained that the number of people who want to benefit from the free medical services was exceeding the proposed plan. "For example, we planned to provide surgery for one hundred people with hernia but so far we exceeded the planned number. A request has been send to the sponsor of the exercise waiting for his approval for the additional beneficiaries."
On those with eyes problems, Dalhatu who was the former Ameer of IMAN in Taraba State further explained that one thousand people were earmarked for treatments and surgeries and so far over seven hundred have registered, stressing that the turn out of people was very high and by the end of the week, the figure will exceed the initial one thousand.
"Cards were issued to seven hundred and twenty two people. They were given eye glasses and medicine. Some were offered advises while others were given referral to health institutions for further treatment. Saturday, the 19 of this month was set aside for surgery to those with serious eyes problem. They are 116." He said.
Alkasim Dalhatu revealed that the exercise is witnessing high turn out of people from all nook and cranny of the state and beyond irrespective of religious or tribal inclination.
He expressed satisfaction with the exercise adding that it is a hitch free event as the organizers provided everything needed with proactive measured to tackle unforeseen problems.
Alkasim Dalhatu who applauded the officials of Taraba State Chapter of Islamic Medical Association (IMAN) for their service, showed encomium on Alhaji Umaru Yola for sponsoring the medical outreach and appealed to wealthy individuals in the society to emulate him by reducing the hardship face by people at this hard economic situation.
