Don’t Incite Religious Crisis In Taraba, Youths Warn MURIC, Others

 

The Taraba State Youth Council (TYCN) has warned against inciting religious utterances, while urging the Muslim Rights Concerns (MURIC) and its Director, Ishaq Akintola, to steer clear of the state, its politics and religious atmosphere.  

 

The youth group  noted that the call had become imperative to ensure the relative peace and religious harmony being enjoyed by residents across the state was not truncated by the interference of MURIC and its director. 

 

The TYCN Chairman, Mr Hikon Atoshi Uken, who made the call during a press conference in Jalingo, urged Taraba residents to disregard Akintola's claim on religious volatility in the state, particularly the blacklisting of the State Governor, Darius Ishaku, for marginalizing Muslims in the state. 

 

According to him, Akintola is known for inciting statements and he intends to rob our state of the peace we have been enjoying for decades. 

 

"In Taraba state virtually everyone has a Christian or a Muslim relatives and neighbors, therefore, he should stay away from our state and mind his business. 

 

"If he is sincere what stops him from challenging Governor Nasiru Elrufai for imposing a Muslim/Muslim ticket in Kaduna, what stops him from speaking when Christians are killed in numbers in southern Kaduna? 

 

"His excellency, Governor Darius Ishaku, has been working assiduously to ensure that we continue enjoying the peaceful and secure state, and that would resist any attempt bidding through vituperation to truncate the peace. 

 

On his part, the Special Adviser to Ishaku's on  Youths, Hon Udi Pastore said that Akintola's statements are worse than that of Elzazaky and wonder why he is allowed to walk on the street freely. 

 

The group's Public Relations Officer,  Abdullahi Sani, described the MURIC director's claim as fallacious, baseless, inflammatory and capable of causing a crisis that would lead to the loss of lives and property. 

 

Also speaking, a youth leader in the state, Nuvalag Kelvin Hosea, openly invited Akintola to the state for first-hand experience of the relative peace of Taraba.
