Why I want to contest for Takum 1 constituency seat - Mamman-Tunwari

 

The Peoples Democratic Party stalwart, Hon. Keyebya Danjuma Mamman-Tunwari, has explained why he would be contesting for a seat at the Taraba State House of Assembly to represent Takum 1 constituency, saying his decision was in line with his commitment to welfare of Takum Local Government Area people. 

He noted that his decision also was in response several calls from traditional leaders, elders, religious bodies, ward's leaders, youths, pressure groups, women and physically challenged and other well-meaning Takumates from all parts of the country who had been urging him to contest the House of Assembly seat in 2023. 

Speaking while accepting the call on New year day, Mamman-Tunwari, he noted that the calls from the people represent early practical validations of his late father's prophesy as well as tested his resolve and commitment to a childhood dream

  

According to him, the massive outpouring of love, confidence, and belief in my capacity to lead our great Constituency, the Takum 1 has been simply overwhelming. However, I must admit that these developments have also placed a huge demand on my often-confessed passion and deep love for my people. 

"This is because, I consider leadership as a serious endeavor. For me, true leadership requires great sacrifice, the complete abdication of self and personal desires, and a resolute focus on the common good. Leaders must lose themselves in order to serve their people. And only in doing so would they champion causes, take decisions and act in ways that command followership, reflect justice and bring development to their people. That is why I have taken good time to soul search, reflect deeply, consult widely and above all consult my God on the well-meaning calls for me to contest the 2023 House of Assembly elections.

"So, on this 1st day of January 2022, my answer is a BIG YES. I HON KEYEBYA DANJUMA MAMMAN-TUNWARI on this day with God on my side and after deep reflection and wide consultation have decided to wholeheartedly accept the calls by well meaning Takumates across religious and tribal lines to run for the House Of Assembly of Takum 1 in 2023 under the platform of the People's Democratic party (PDP).

"I make this declaration with the utmost sense of responsibility and selfless desire to make Takum a better place for all so help me God. Like I have always insisted, Takum is a Land of great promise.  We have all the natural and human resources to guarantee GOOD life for every Takumates, LEAD Taraba and play BIG in the top league of advanced economies. 

"As an entrepreneur, global businessman and an active participant in Nigeria's politics, I am clear about the challenges that have held us down as a People over the past several years. This includes inadequate and epileptic power supply, a poor manufacturing base, bad roads, poor healthcare, weak educational system, poverty, unemployment, a lack of a social welfare system to take care of the poor and underprivileged as well as dependence on foreign imports for basically all our domestic needs amongst others."
