TSUBEB Boss Yakubu Agbaizo ‘Seizes NUT Officials December Salary, Sack Others’




For refusing to join government sponsored Taraba State Association of Basic Education Teachers , some officials of the National Union of Teachers NUT were not paid their wages for the month of December 2021, Taraba Truth and Facts gathered.

This newspaper gathered that some primary school teachers who refused to align with the government faction of the teachers union are being victimized by Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board (TSUBEB) led by its Executive Chairman Dr. Yakubu Agbaizo.

Agbaizo had created Association of Basic Education Teachers after government sponsored candidates lost the NUT election in the state.

Several teachers were paid in December, infact we were told if we don't leave NUT to support the government we will never get our salaries and we will be disengaged from service.

The state NUT Treasurer, Auditor and branch chairmen in Ibi , Takum ,Ussa ,Gassol, Saraduna , Wukari, Gaskaka Bali were not paid salary last month, it's a deliberate attempt to frustrate the NUT leadership and empower the government sponsored teachers union.

 A senior member of the NUT told this newspaper that some officials who opposed government decisions to install the executive of the Union in its last election are being forced to retire, while others are unjustly transferred from classroom to administrative.

"Also some rescue teachers who are sympathizers of the NUT are been screened out in the ongoing conversion of Rescue Teachers to permanent staff, relatives of NUT senior officials who had been enroll as Rescue Teachers are being replaced on the list."

The Taraba State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT wishes to call on their members in the state to remain calm as the National Secretariat of NUT is working on addressing the challenges confronting the union in the state.
The Union says necessary actions are on top gear and that soon the union will bounce back in the state.
The Union wish to reiterates that Comrade Nathan Solomon remains it duly elected chairman in Taraba State.
