After 10 years of Representation, ‘Taraba Speaker Sites First Project In Yandang Kingdom’

Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly and member representing Lau Constituency , Prof. Joseph Albasu Kunini has sited a  what is described has his first major project for the Yandang people of Lau ten years after representing them at the State House of Assembly.

The Speaker recently laid a foundation for a health care centre in Kwamiding village in Abbare B Ward, a predominantly Yandang Community in his constituency.

 

According to Speaker, the health care delivery was of paramount importance among the various dividends of democracy because it has to do with the wellbeing and survival of the people.

 

"I stand here in Yandang land wearing two shoes: first, as a traditional title holder of Va'marah (First Child) of Yandang; secondly, to reciprocate the massive votes you people gave me at the polls.

 

"The building of this health care centre is my own personal contribution to reciprocate you all for standing in the rains and the sun for hours to vote for me at the polls.

 

"Therefore, I have decided to build the health care centre because it will save the lives of the people of this community and beyond who have no access to health care facility.

 

"I recall my mother died some years ago due to lack of access to health care facility in my village; she collapsed when celebrating at a wedding of her friend's son and died on the way to Zing General Hospital.She could have survived if she was given first aid treatment," he explained.

Earlier, the spokesperson of Kwamiding community, Mr. Emmanuel Danbana, thanked the Speaker for the kind gesture, just as he assured him of their unflinching support and bloc votes should he vie for elective office in the future.

 Speaking to our reporter, President of the Yandang Youth Development Congress,  Dr David Charima commended the speaker for siting a project for the Yandang Nation after several years of representing them at the state Assembly.

He said the Yandang Nation has always supported the PDP and the Speaker in ever elections but had received very little dividends of democracy from the speaker.   

"We should have enjoyed more dividends from the Speaker because of the roles Yandang people played in his various elections, it was Yandang youths who went to invite him from Lagos to contest this seat in 2010, Yandang has always supported his aspirations but until now we were relegated to the back stage under him. We him to site more projects in Yandang Nation because of our supports to him over the years." 

 He also commended the Speaker for recently appointing some Yandang youths as his aides saying such actions would foster unity among the several ethnic tribes in Lau Local government.
