Don't Link Me To Arrested Kidnappers- Chief of Gassol
•Re-Plot to Release Kidnappers Terrorizing Jalingo
The Chief of Gassol Alhaji Idris Yakubu Chiroma has rejected plots to link him to some persons arrested for kidnapping in Jalingo Taraba State.
A statement from the Gassol Royal Family signed by Alhaji Gambo Yakubu Chiroma said no member of the family has approached the Police to seek bail for any kidnap kingpin in Taraba State
According to Gambo, the Royal family of Gassol is disassociating themselves from any criminal, "we have not engaged any lawyer nor discuss his bail with anyone whosoever, and the report insinuating that a Second Class Chief from Gassol is interested in the case should be completely disregarded.
" We saw a report in Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper and we understand that there's a plot to link the highly respected Chief of Gassol His Highness Alhaji Idris Yakubu Chiroma to some arrested criminals because one among them is a distant relative to him," Gambo said.
"We should put it on record that the Chief is aware of the arrest of his distant relative on issues related to kidnapping but he has never made any move to pervert the cause of justice.
"An extended family member was arrested by the police for kidnapping, we welcome the development and we are ready to corporate with the police to ensure he faces the full consequences of his actions, no member of our family is interested in getting him released in whatever disguise."
Gambo noted Chief of Gassol will not encourage any form of criminality; he has always condemned criminality among his subjects.
"It's would be utterly unfair for anyone to mention the Chief of Gassol and members of his immediate family in anything related to kidnapping or any form of criminality. The Chief of Gassol has a track record of exposing criminals within his domain to security agencies, last year alone he provided intelligence that led to the arrest of over 20 kidnappers and robbers within Gassol, and this is verifiable with security operatives."
He however called on the police to ensure that all criminals involved in kidnapping within Taraba State are duly punished for their crimes, noting that the arrested criminal is on his own and should be allowed to carry his cross without linking him to respected members of the family.
