Gassol Rice Mill Ready By January
An industrialized rice mill at the Gassol Integrated Farm is expected to commence full production activities by the end of January next year as installations of equipment for the production of rice has reached 90 percent completion.
Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku while inspecting farm equipment and implements at Gassol Integrated Farm in Gassol Local Government Area said the State is blessed with fertile land that is suitable for cultivation all year round.
The Governor however sought collaborative effort with private individuals to develop Agriculture in the State.
He expressed dissatisfaction on the Federal Government for not supporting the Gassol Integrated Farm after its establishment for the past ten years saying there is need for synergy from all stakeholders to develop Agriculture in the Country.
Governor Darius Ishaku assured the people of Gassol that work on the Gassol road would soon commence since the Contractor handling the project has been mobilized.
The Governor also promised to solve electricity and security problems facing the farm and as well called on residence around the Gassol Integrated farm to protect all the equipments.
Commenting, Manager of the Gassol Integrated Farm Augustine Monday told Governor Darius Ishaku that electricity, theft, security, drought and flood are some of the problems facing the farm.
He said they have made concerted effort through interface with the Chiefs and security agencies to improve security in the area and also to eliminate theft.
On his part, Assistant Manager of Gassol Integrated Farm George Khado stated that they have cultivated over five thousand hectare of land on the site of the farm.
The Assistant Manager, assured Governor Darius Ishaku of their commitment to work during dry and raining season if the right mechanism is in place.
