Voters Registration: Lack Of Network in Ndola Communities Threaten New Voters

 

Ndola Communities in Taraba State comprising some areas in Kurmi, Sardauna, Gashaka, Donga, Bali Local Government areas and NGADA Special Development Area have appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to adopt offline voters registration in the ongoing online voters registration exercise.

 The appeal came following the backdrop that the just completed first phase of the ongoing online voters registration exercise at the local government headquarters could not capture significant number of eligible voters in the Communities concern because of their terrains, distance and the unavailability of network facilities. 

The appeal was made by the Ndola Stakeholders' Forum on behalf of the Communities as they decry the level of disenfranchisement if there was no offline registration to over two hundred thousand people as the result of lack of network facilities in the affected Communities.

Present at stakeholders forum includes the Chairman of Kurmi local government area, Hon. Joseph Danladi Ammamzala; Gashaka Local Government Area, Hon. Paul G. Dogoh; and Deputy Coordinator NGADA Special Development Area Hon. Ishaku Shamaki.

Speaking in a press briefing held in Jalingo the state capital, the chairman of the Ndola Stakeholders' Forum, Hon. Kuriya Tafarki Auta, demands that the electoral umpire should look into the plight of the people involved and grant their appeal to adopt the offline registration because thousands of people stand disenfranchised in the forthcoming elections if they insist on online registration .

Hon. Joseph Danladi Ammamzala from Kurmi said many eligible voters would be disenfranchised if their appeal on the need for INEC to consider the offline registration to be adopted in the various Communities without networks is not considered
