People of Mambilla Plateau Benefitted More From My Government – Gov. Ishaku
Taraba State Governor Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku has disclosed that his government has favored more people from Mambilla Plateau than other parts of the state.
The Governor speaking while receiving a report from the committee constituted to pay backlog Salaries and benefits to former Staff of the defunct Nigeria Beverages Production Company at the government house Jalingo said his government has given the Mambilla Plateau more attention than any other area in the state.
He said Kakara community on the Mambilla Plateau has become the richest community in Taraba state under his watch, stressing that the community is the only town in the country that enjoys 24 hours uninterrupted electricity supply.
The Governor expressing displeasure in the manner people acquire land in the past without notifying the State Government which is against the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Governor Ishaku warned against the indiscriminate sales of land on the Mambilla Plateau.
He said paying those who served the company for years is one of the best thing he feel has been done in office as a governor.
Managing Director, Taraba Investment and Properties Limited Mr. Iliya Ezekiel said the payment of backlog of salaries and gratuities was a life server to the people of the community.
He disclosed that the Governor Ishaku led administration had released the sum of 30 Million Naira to clear the backlogs of former staff of the defunct Nigeria Beverages Production Company.
He said over 3000 people are presently employed by the company and over 2000 small scales farmers are engaged in line with the rescue mission quest to reduce unemployment and others.
He disclosed that the IGR of the company has increased as 50 Million Naira was remitted to the state Government as profit for the very first time since the company was established.
On his part, the Chief of Kakam Usman Samari Kakara commended Governor Darius Ishaku for rescuing the Mambilla Beverages Company that has brought sustainable growth and peace to his chiefdom..
He said the Governor's concern over the Highland Tea Company has not only brought development but peace to the entire Mambilla Plateau.
He said crime rate has dropped to zero level on the Mambilla Plateau because of the Governor's approach towards peace building.
He said the co-existance between those in his area is a clear sign that there is unity of purpose among the people.
He commended the Governor for the confidence bestowed to his Council to be among Committee Members for the payment of backlog of Salaries and benefits to former Staff of the defunct Nigeria Beverages Production Company Limited.
He opined that they were able to identify all the former employees and retirees of the defunct Company who were owed backlog salaries and benefits.
The Royal Father affirmed that they have work out modalities for the payment of the thirty million naira approved by Governor Darius Ishaku as full and final benefits to the former staff with ex gratia payment agreement to be signed by the State Government and Representatives of the former employees.
