GAMJI Foundation Awards Scholarship To Donga, Takum, Ussa and Yangtu Students in TSU




  A former President National Youths Council of Nigeria NYCN, Comrade Murtala Mohammed, also known as GAMJI, has rolled out scholarship for students spread across Donga, Takum, Ussa and Yangtu development areas at the Taraba State University.

Speaking at the scholarship award ceremony, Murtala Mohammed, said that GAMJI Aid Foundation is a non governmental organization that is designed to help poor students achieve their academic feats as they desired. He enjoined the beneficiaries to put into use the little token they got from GAMJI Aid Foundation so as to solve some of their immediate and urgent academic fanancial challenges.

Represented by Secretary of the Foundation Samson Sampati, Mohammed advised the recipients to always look at the scholarship as non-political but as a contribution to their education endeavors.
Sampati added that Comrade Murtala Mohammed has never held any political office, but scholarship came deeply from his heart to assist Indigent students who might be facing some challenges in the university.
" Please bear with me those of you that did not get GAMJI scholarship now you will certainly get it in the near future. This is just the beginning of good things to come.

"GAMJI is a philanthropic. He feels your pains too. In the near future another scholarship will be rolled out to reach every students of his constituency," he said.

He appreciated the leadership of Taraba State University for cooperating with GAMJI Aid Foundation in this trying time, adding that more of this kind of gesture from a gentleman like GAMJI is coming to reach those that could not make it at the first round of the scholarship, charging the recipients to stay focus to their studies, saying that education is the only gift that their generation need.


The President, Taraba State University Students Union government, Comrade, Ande Yakuba in his speech urged the awardees to always remember GAMJI in their life time endeavour and to carry the message of his good gesture and philanthropic to the nooks and crannies of that State. He said with this kind of gesture that GAMJI had displayed fulfilled one of his campaign promises to students.

"When I was canvassing for votes from you I made a promise that if elected would cause a first scholarship on the campus here. Today l am happy that Comrade GAMJI has made me proud me before you which is the first in the history of this University," he said.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Vincent Ado Tenebe, represented by the Dean Students Affairs, Dr Rebecca Irany thanked GAMJI Aid Foundation for its magnanimous and philanthropic gesture in assisting Indigent students with scholarship package, saying that the kind gesture made him feel like a Nigerian.

Professor Tenebe, appreciated the maverick leadership style of the Student Union and the GAMJI foundation alike for initiating the scholarship programme, while advising the awardees to reciprocate the kind gesture to Foundation at the appropriate time as he enjoined them to use scholarship for the purpose it is meant.

Some of the scholarship recipients who spoke with our correspondent said their joys know no bound.

Mary Dennis, a 400 level student, department of Human Kinatic, TSU, said she lacked words to express her joy as this was the first kind of it from an individual who is not holding political office, saying that God should reward GAMJI at the appropriate time while Gamboro Binninga, a 300 level student, department of sociology expressed similar gratitude to GAMJI Aid Foundation for finding him worthy for the scholarship award and promised to reciprocate the kind gesture at the appropriate time.

Dignitaries at the occasion include, Dean Students Affairs, Mrs Rebecca Irany (PhD), Students Affairs Officer, University Chief Security Officer, representatives of GAMJI Aid Foundation, Students Union government officials, and many other students as Tiv cultural troops with their Swange Dance entertained the guests to their admirations.
