Rumples as Senator Dahiru Bako Takes over Leadership of late Mama Taraba’s Political Movement
Some members of the late Senator Aisha Alhassan political movement are grumbling over the naming of Senator Dahiru Bako as the new leader of the political group, Taraba Truth and Facts gathered.
Supporters of the late politician popularly called Maman Taraba are also not happy that a decision to mourn the former Minister for Women Affairs for 40days.
Senator Bako was named leader of the Maman Taraba political movement when Directors of the Aisha Jummai Alhassan Campaign Organization paid solidarity visit to Governor Dairus Ishaku at the Government House Jalingo.
Senator Dahiru Bako told Governor Darius Ishaku that they were at the Government House to pledge their full loyalty to his administration which is in consonance with that of their leader late Senator Aisha Jummai Alhassan.
Senator Bako said they have come together and agreed not to deviate from the ways of their late leader Senator Aisha Jummai by staying united and supporting one singular goal which their leader held in high place before she died.
However some supporters of the late politician are disagreeing on the visit to Government House, noting that all activities was to be suspended till after the Islamic 40 days prayer for the deceased politician.
"Some of her Political loyalists want everything suspended till after her 40 days prayer, but some of the key people in the group are egger to appoint a new leader. These people want to quickly hijack the group ahead of 2023, Maman Taraba Political Movement is very large and it cut across religion and ethnic groups. In the Southern Zone for instance, Mama Taraba group is very formidable but they were not carried along during the visit.
"Some of our key people went ahead to visit the governor and appointed Senator Dahiru Bako has it new leader, while those who wanted the decision of the political group to wait till after the 40 days prayer are looking at General AT Ibrahim has their leader," the source said.
A supporter of the late politician opposed to the visit to the governor want the group to properly mourn the death of the late politician, stressing that there was no reason to rush.
"We are still mourning the sudden death of our political mentor and leader, Senator Aisha Alhassan, it's not too appropriate to discuss who will lead her Political movement now. Those parading themselves as the new leader of the movement know their limitations. We will take our time to mourn Mama Taraba because she's a great woman who impact in our political history would stand the test of time, after the 40 days prayer, we will seat as a group and discuss the future of Mama Taraba Political Movement."
A close follower of Mama Taraba Alhaji Saadu Sintali said the late politician had named Senator Bako has 'Khalifa' of her political family before she died.
"Before the death of Senator Aisha, she had informed us in Abuja that Senator Bako is her political Khalifa (Heir) so there's nothing to debate about, either it's now or after 40 days. Also you know that Mama Taraba officially joined the PDP, those kicking against the leadership of Senator Bako are those who didn't follow her to PDP, they returned to the APC after we left UDP, so we can't really call them members of Mama Taraba Political Movement because all her supporters are in PDP.
A former Chairman of PDP in Taraba State, Hon Abdulmumini Vaki had earlier told Governor Darius Ishaku that the Mama Taraba Political Movement is presence and formidable in all wards of the State including Senatorial Zones, State with working Committees and Local Government Area Executives.
