Bali/Gassol Killings: Don't Temper With IDPs Farm Lands, Gov. Ishaku Warns Traditional Rulers

Governor Darius Ishaku of Taraba State has warn the traditional rulers within the central zone of the state to desist from tempering with farm lands belonging to Internally Displaced Persons IDPs who were affected by the recent Herders/Farmers killings within Bali and Gassol local government areas of the state.

 

 

Council Chairmen for  Gassol and Bali Local Governments, Mallam Musa Abdulahi and Hon  Kallamu Mahmood  respectively disclosed the governor's directive as part of the  ongoing peace initiatives between the warring Tiv and Fulani residents.

 

 

Abdulahi confirm that calm has already return within the localities of Gassol following peace steps been initiated by the governor which has also been embraced by the herders and farmers within the area.

 

 

Mahmood, on his part said that many Tiv farmers who were displaced by the recent crisis have started returning to their various places to continue with their farming activities within  Bali Council Area.

 

 

The two local government bosses revealed that Governor Ishaku has given standing order to all the traditional rulers in the affected areas not to temper with any farm land belonging to the displaced persons. 

 

 

"There is a standing directive from His Excellency the executive governor of Taraba state Darius Ishaku that no traditional ruler nor village head should temper with any farm land belonging to the displaced persons within the areas recently affected by the farmers/herders crisis.

 

 

"Whoever try that will be severely punish by the laws of the land, we are also calling on all the displaced persons to report back to us immediately if there is any case of unlawful land grabbing. Abdulahi stated.
