39,000 People Benefiting From FG Cash Transfer Scheme in Taraba’


The Taraba state Unit​ Head of the federal government conditional cash transfer,​ Mr. Skepra Useni said that 21, 797 less privileged people have been enrolled to benefit from​ the federal government cash transfer scheme in the state.

 

The National Cash Transfer Programme​ was introduced by President​ Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 to provide stipends to most poorest and vulnerable Nigerians.

 

Usani, who stated this in Jalingo while speaking with journalists said only 17,803 poor people in state​ were engaged in past.

 

He added that with the enrollment of​ 21, 797 and the existing 17, 803, Taraba now has 39,600​ on the scheme.

 

He noted that a lot have been achieved since the commencement of the program.

 

He stressed​ that many poor​ people have come out of poverty through the N5, 000 monthly stipends they get from​ the federal government.

 

"In fact, as we speak,​ we have tried and put beneficiary through what we called Savings and Mobilization Training (SMT) where we trained them.

 

In that process,​ some saved N2, 000, some N3, 000 and many of them made money out of it and some are employers of labour today" he said.

 

According to him,​ a lady in a group of ten people who decided to make a contribution of N10,000 received a contribution of N100, 000 and she is today engaged in pop corn​ business in Gembu, Sardauna LGA of the state.

 

He expressed happiness that from the little start up, she now ​makes profit of N30,000 to N40,000 daily.

 

"Today, even people from the Republic of Cameroon use to book for her​ pop corn.

 

she​ produce​ five to six bags in a day and​ it is​ not a small money she makes now.

 

Through​ the business,​ she has about ten people that she employed and are currently working under her" he added.

 

He lauded the federal government for initiating the cast transfer program, and called on​ beneficiaries to on​ their own​ do their best to​ ensure that the little stipends given to them is being utilize to achieve the set objective.
