Friends, Associates Want Yangtu SDA Secretariat Named After Late Rimamnde Bitrus Nuhu
Friends and Political associates of late politician and community leader, Rimamnde Bitrus Nuhu has called on the State Government to immortalize him by renaming the Secretariat of the Yangtu Special Development Area after him.
The late Rimamnde Bitrus Nuhu was the first Coordinator of the Yangtu Special Development Area.
Speaking during his funeral ceremony in Ikam Takum, residents who turned out in their large numbers said the late politician laid a solid foundation for the smooth operation of the Yangtu and contributed greatly to development of Southern Taraba greatly.
The burial ceremony which attracted politicians, business men and various community stakeholders from all tribes, religion and ethnic groups in the area to pay their last respect to a man many described as the a great man.
"you see every tribe in Taraba is represented here today to honour Rimamnde Bitrus Nuhu, particularly from Southern Zone all the tribes sent their representatives, the Jukun, Tiv, Ichen, Kuteb name it, are here so he was a great man who's loved by all. He was a unifying factor and a great promoter of peace coexistence," President of the Kuteb Cultural Group, Emma Ukwen said.
Described as a lover of his people, the late Rimamnde Bitrus during his tenure as the premier coordinator of the Yangtu was said to have attracted several projects to the area.
Part of the projects includes, rehabilitation and construction of classrooms in Kwambai, Jenuwa Gida, Bika and Jenuwa Kogi.
Speaking on behalf of his political followers, Daniel Likam said the late politician was able to impact the lives of his people and was a promoter of peace in the Southern zone.
"The loose of Rimamnde Bitrus is a great loose but his memories brings blessing to us as a people, he was a selfless leader and a good administrator who groomed many leaders from the Southern zone.
"He was a man of his people, from what we are seeing here and what people are saying Late Rimamnde Bitrus had great impact on his community and people really loved him, to honour his contribution for his is people, renaming the Yangtu SDA Complex after him would be very nice, he deserve to be honored and immortalized by the government."
Chief Ini Morgan a close friend to the late politician described the late Rimamnde Bitrus as a patriot who left his comforts to serve his people.
"He was doing fine and even contested for governorship of the state under the Alliance for Democracy AD in 2003, but for his love for his people, he abandoned his comfort in the city to serve the people at the grassroots level, this he did with passion and all his energy. His vision was to transform Yangtu which he largely achieved the number of projects executed under his leadership showed he gave his best for the job. The people owe him the responsibility of preserving his memories of hard work, dedication and selflessness."
