How Ardo Kola LG boss, brother was killed over land dispute
Fresh details have emerged over how the Chairman of Ardo-Kola in Taraba state Hon. Salihu Dovo and his brother were killed by unknown gunmen at the early hours of Sunday.
It's suspected that his killing might be linked to a land dispute he preceded over on Saturday at Sunkani, the headquarters of the local government area.
According an eyewitness, a security guard at the Chairman residence located few meters to Police Mobile Barracks 40 Sabon-Gari, Jalingo, said the gunmen were over ten in numbers.
The eyewitness who refuse to give his name for security reasons said the gunmen storm the house of Dovo at about 2:30 am on Sunday, he said some of them were outside the gate while some forced their way into the house and forcefully abduct the chairman at gun point.
"They came here in numbers, myself and a colleague were standing at the gate, sighting at us, one of them open fire on me, thank God the gun did not answer, my colleague ran away and left me alone, I also ran into the house and hide, they forcefully gained entrance into the house"
"Some of them from their behaviours proved that they know the house very well, even the chairman after knowing that they were in the house to kidnappe him, he was calling one of them by his name that why has he led gunmen to his house.
"They took him away, they did not come with any vehicle, they came by foots and left by foots, as they were going, the road they followed is the road that leads to the chairman's village in Ardo-Kola local government area, the people here in the house then phone and alerted the people from the chairman's village of what happened, that was when his younger brother who is in the village came out.
"As he was coming with his motorcycle, he ran into them accidentally, one of the gunmen shot and killed him at the spot, they proceeded with the chairman, the villagers came and took the body of the brother to the house.
therefore gathered that the kidnappers after few hours called an official of the local government to announce the killing of his boss, telling him to go and pick the body between Nahuta and Garin Abata villages of Ardo-Kola local government.
Meanwhile, the police have confirm that one person has been arrested so far in connection to the death of the chairman.
Confirming the report, the police public relation officer PPRO Taraba state police command DSP David Misar also confirmed that the Ardo-Kola local government Council chairman Hon. Dovo was abducted and killed on Sunday by some gunmen.
"Yes is true that the chairman was abducted and killed, we have so far arrested one person in connection to the incident and we are hopeful that he will give us leading information that can get to root of the killings, we are on serious investigation and we shall communicate to you as soon as we unravel all the circumstances surrounding the incident. Misar stated.
