TETFUND Commission 32 Projects in Federal University Wukari, Hails VC



It was a praise galore for the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University Wukari, Professor Abubakar Musa Kundiri as  Tertiary Education Trust Fund TEFUND commission about thirty two projects spread across the Federal University Wukari, Wukari Taraba State.



The projects including the construction of 2 modern male and female hostels and construction of office building, accommodation for both faculties of Pure and Applied Sciences, Humanities, Management and that of Social Sciences; a VC lodge among others were commissioned by the TETFUND Executive  Secretary Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro.

Present to witness the grand commissioning include  Executive Secretary Nigerian University Commission (NUC) Professor Abubakar Rasheed; Chairman House Committee on Tertiary Education, Hon. Aminu Suleiman Goro; Aku Uka of Wukari, His Majesty Dr. Shekarau Angyu Masa Ibi, Chairman of the University Governing Council Mr Lawrence Ngbale alongside other Council members among other dignitaries.   

Professor Abubakar Rasheed  said plans have been concluded by the leadership of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) to establish faculty of medicine in the Federal University of Wukari, Taraba state. 

This according to the Executive Secretary of the commission,  professor Abubakar Rasheed , was necessitated by the rapid growth of the institution which according to him was made possible by the Vice Chancellor,  Professor Abubakar M. Kundiri.

The NUC boss said the desired dreams of the institution to commenced the study of medicine have finally been actualized, stating that " before the end of this year this University would be grant the approval to commence the study of medicine. "

Stressing that "we have seen visible and credible leadership in this University " the commission in collaboration with the leadership of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, as stated by him , would work tirelessly round the clocks,  to herald more projects to the university. 

Describing Kundri as "one for the best performing Vice Chancellor in the Nigerian University " the various projects initiated by the V.C , coupled with his in ability to herald growth to the institution despite the security challenges in the area, the commission,  according to him,  would continue to rally round the university to triumph .

Visibly elated by the development, the VC who said he was confronted with myriad of challenges on assumption of office, said he was able to surmount the challenges following the olive branches extended to him by the Minister of Education,  Mallam Adamu Adamu and others , whom according to him "have always kept their doors open for us and always keen to addresses the challenges that we have. "

Kundiri who noted that at the time of his assumption as the VC, not a single programme offered by the university had full accreditation,  said " I  am proud to say with the guidance and support of the commission all the 27 programmes of the University now have full accreditation. "

Urging the commission and the leadership of the TETfund which was led to the institution which is located in Wukari local government council of Taraba state by it Executive  Secretary Professor Suleiman Elias Bogoro, to take "a look at what we have been doing and further guide us as we seek to transform the young institution into a world class University" the institution under his leadership,  as made known by him, would continue to work round the clocks to catapult it to the height. 

Giving honour to those that deserved it, the numerous achievements recorded by the university,  as publicly made known by Kundiri would not have as well  been possible had it not for the corporation of the host community,  stating that " they have consistently provided diverse support to us which are clear to see the University."

Some members of the host community who spoke with our correspondent noted that the VC has brought glory to Wukari community as the Federal University has ignited development to the ancient town.
